  • DISREGARDING TRAFFIC SIGNS

    "Disregarding traffic signs is a traffic violation enforced by the Land Transportation Office and local traffic authorities such as the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.


    This violation generally carries a ₱1,000.00 fine and includes failure to follow lane markings, traffic signals, and other posted traffic control devices."

  • LOADING AND UNLOADING OF PASSENGERS IN UNAUTHORIZED AREAS

    "Loading and unloading of passengers in unauthorized areas is a violation monitored by the Land Transportation Office and local traffic authorities such as the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.


    The penalties are as follows:


    1st Offense: ₱5,000 fine

    2nd Offense: ₱10,000 fine and impounding of the unit for 30 days

    3rd Offense: ₱15,000 fine and cancellation of the Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC)"

  • LOST OR CARNAPPED MOTOR VEHICLE

    "For a lost or carnapped vehicle, please follow these steps:


    Report immediately to the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group to place the vehicle under alarm.


    Notify the Land Transportation Office via the C3 Command Center (1-342-586) or the CitiSend to block the vehicle’s registration.


    Prepare a notarized Affidavit of Loss and secure a Certificate of Alarm from the PNP/HPG.


    Proceed to the original LTO district office to request a duplicate CR/OR or process permanent deletion of the vehicle record."

  • LOST OR STOLEN LICENSE PLATE

    "For a lost or stolen license plate, please:


    - Secure a police report/blotter from the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group or nearest police station.

    - Prepare a notarized Affidavit of Loss.

    - Bring the Affidavit, police report, CR/OR, MVIR, and a valid ID to the Land Transportation Office district office to apply for a replacement plate and pay the required fees."

  • NO HELMET WHILE RIDING OR OPERATING A MOTORCYCLE

    "Under Republic Act No. 10054, all motorcycle drivers and backriders must wear a standard protective helmet with PS or ICC markings.


    Penalties for not wearing a helmet are:


    1st Offense: ₱1,500

    2nd Offense: ₱3,000

    3rd Offense: ₱5,000

    Succeeding Offenses: ₱10,000 and confiscation of driver’s license"

  • SMOKE BELCHING

    "Smoke belching violations are enforced under Republic Act No. 8749 (Philippine Clean Air Act). 

    Enforcement is conducted by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Anti-Smoke Belching Unit in coordination with the Land Transportation Office and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.


    When apprehended for smoke belching, the driver is required to present the vehicle’s Official Receipt and Certificate of Registration (OR/CR) and a valid driver’s license. An emission test is conducted using a smoke meter.


    If the vehicle fails the test, a citation ticket (TOP) is issued and the driver is advised to complete the necessary vehicle maintenance to comply with emission standards.


    Fines & Penalties:


    1st offence: Fine up to Php 2,000

    2nd offence: Fine up to Php 4,000

    3rd offence: Fine up to Php 6,000 and one (1) year suspension of Motor Vehicle Registration"

  • HIT AND RUN

    "In case of a hit-and-run incident, please take the following steps:


    Ensure your safety and seek medical assistance if needed.

    Document the scene (photos/videos), note the vehicle’s plate number, model, color, and direction of travel, and gather witness details.

    Report the incident to the nearest police station within 24 hours to secure an official police report for investigation and insurance purposes.

    The Land Transportation Office may assist authorities in tracing the vehicle owner using the plate number indicated in the police report.


    Prompt reporting helps authorities investigate and supports any insurance claim you may file."

  • ROAD CRASH ACCIDENT

    "In case of a car crash accident, please take the following steps:



    (Minor accidents)

    1. Ensure your safety first

    2. Avoid blocking traffic

    3. Exchange information with involved individuals

    4. Contact your insurance company



    (Major accidents) 

    1. Check for injuries and contact emergency hotline 911

    2. Document the scene

    3. Cooperate with the authorities

    4. File a report with the police

  • APPREHENSION

    "If apprehended by an officer:


    - Pull over safely and stay calm.

    - Present your driver’s license and OR/CR when requested.

    - The officer will issue a Temporary Operator’s Permit (TOP) instead of confiscating your license.

    - Review the violation on the TOP; you may sign under protest.

    - Settle the fine within 15 working days to avoid license suspension.


    For No Contact Apprehension (NCAP) by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority:


    - Check the notice via SMS/email or the “May Huli Ka” portal.

    - Pay the fine online or in person to avoid issues with Land Transportation Office registration renewal.

    - You may contest the violation within 10 days if you believe it was issued in error."

  • ROAD RAGE

    "An assault provoked by an incident that occurred on a roadway where there is an aggressive 

    driver and a victim.


    A driver must not do the following acts:


    - Cutting off other drivers

    - Rude pointing with your middle finger

    - Tailgating

    - Annoying blowing of horn


    Tips to avoid Road Rage:


    - It takes two persons to react on road rage.

    - Do not be an aggressive nor a rage victim

    - Keep cool, even other drivers do something that makes another driver angry on purpose or 

    even through acts of physical violence.

    - Take a deep breath

    - Keep distance

    - Avoid retaliation

    - Put away your pride


    Always think of consequences of your actions that might follow which can end up 

    emotional setback, losing your car, your license, and having to pay exorbitant damages, 

    lose of career and worst in a jail or in the cemetery."

  • ALARM CONCERN (IID/DCU)

    "If your vehicle has an LTO alarm:


    Verify the issue at the LTO or PNP-HPG

    Prepare OR/CR, valid ID, and related documents

    Settle fines or violations

    Secure clearance confirming resolution

    LTO updates and lifts the alarm in the system


    Check status:


    SMS: Text LTO VEHICLE [Plate No.] or LTO LICENSE [License No.] to 2600

    LTMS Portal: portal.lto.gov.ph


    Reminder: Avoid fixers transact only with authorized agencies."

  • ILLEGAL PARKING

    "fine for illegally parked vehicles depends on the specific violation committed:


    Php 200.00 – Php 1,000.00 for Attended Illegal Parking (driver still inside the vehicle while illegally parked).

    Php 150.00 – Php 1,000.00 for Obstruction or parking on the roadside/sidewalk without authority.

    Php 500.00 – Php 1,000.00 for Unattended Illegal Parking (vehicle left without a driver).


    The exact amount within the range is determined by the enforcing officer based on the situation and severity of the violation.

    "Operating a colorum (illegal) public utility vehicle in the Philippines has strict penalties:

    Bus: ₱1,000,000 

    Truck: ₱200,000

    Van: ₱200,000

    Sedan: ₱120,000

    Jeepney: ₱50,000

    - 3-month impound

    - CPC suspended/revoked

    - Apprehended unit (and some units) may be blacklisted/registration revoked

  • SCAM MESSAGES

    "If you receive an SMS claiming to be from the LTO about a traffic violation, avoid opening any links, making payments, or sharing personal details. These messages are typically phishing attempts intended to steal money or sensitive information. The LTO does not request or process payments through text messages.



    𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿: Land Transportation Office (LTO) will never send any links via email or SMS for any unsettled violations."
